Visit Gili Turtle Sanctuary and witness nature in its purest form.
For 30 years Mr. Boulong's sanctuary has been in operation.
His turtle release program has given thousands of endangered turtles dramatically improved survival rates.
Completely run on small dollar donations from tourists visiting the island sanctuary on snorkeling tour and honeymooners visiting Gili Meno.
Our purpose is to save the turtle and ensure their survival in the future. We save the turtle eggs from predator, them to hatch naturally and raise the young turtles for a year.
The turtle are fed every two hours from sunrise till sunset, a diet of fresh fish which is caught by volunteer, when tim permits, otherwise the fish is purchased from local fisherman.
The water of the turtle tank is changed every day with fresh salt water pumped in from the sea.
More ponds have to be building to house the large amount of turtles.
We maintain the ponds and ensure the well being of the eggs and turtles.
Gili Turtle Sanctuary and people like Bolong are saving the turtles to release them into the oceans again. We make sure there are still turtles in the future... But how does that work?
1. Save the eggs from predators (nest robbers like human, ghost crabs, dogs, cats monitor lizards, foxes, monkeys etc.)
• Have you spotted the eggs around the turtle sanctuary?
2. Permit the eggs to hatch naturally then we raise the young turtle for one year
• You can see the different ages in the pools in front of you
3. After a year when the turtle have grown big enough we release them safely to the sea.
4. Injured turtles will also be cared for until they have recovered well enough to be realesed in to the sea.
5. YOU can help us to

1995 Mr. Boulong made a simple place whose location was given to him by the owner of one of the inns on Gili Meno (in front of the hotel gazebo). He searches Gili Meno beach almost every night to find turtles laying eggs to move them to the place he has provided. At that time, Mr.
Bolong was competing with the community to find the turtle that was laying its eggs first. If the community found the turtle first, then Mr.
Bolong would buy the egg and then place it in the place he had provided.
At that time thousands of turtle eggs can be hatched in one nesting period.
If the turtle eggs hatch, the hatchlings will be moved to a place in the form of a plastic bath for babies with a diameter of 1.5m and a height of around 50 cm. The hatchlings are then kept until they are 5-9 months old or considered capable of
